Dear Russ, Tracey and family,
We hope you are doing well! It was around this time last year that we looked after a friend's collie and knew immediately that we'd found the breed for us. Needless to say, it pushed us over the edge and made real our intent to welcome a puppy into our home. Doug's first birthday is just around the corner, we thought it a good time to fill you in on all the fun we've had learning and growing together so far.
From his eagerness to learn and to please, to his gentle demeanor with other dogs and people, and of course his goofy character; what a joy. The moment we met the litter, Doug's snuggle instincts were quite apparent. That certainly has not changed. As first time dog parents, crate training for the first 7 months was really key in giving him (and us) a sense of security. He's often put himself and his panda bear to bed without us even asking... Despite being the youngest, he was at the top of his class in both level 1 and 2 training. From road trips, camping, off leash hiking, socializing and lots of fetch and Frisbee, this tyke has been a treat to spend time with.
Thank you for your dedication to breeding such beautiful beings. The hard work and care you put into your farmstead is clear to see.
Below you'll find the link to his documents and a bank of photos we've taken throughout the year. Feel free to share.
Kindest regards and warm holiday wishes,
Marie-Josée, Geoff and Douglas (previously Winston)

Bill and Alexis from London who have a pup from Cookie and Flynn (June 2017)
Hi Tracey, Russ and family!
We just wanted to say hello, and share some pictures of our handsome, Quin (Cookie & Flynn June 18, 2017) with you.
He honestly has been the best thing that has happened to us since our children arrived. He has brought more joy, and health to our family then we ever expected!
As you may remember Quin is named for our favourite camping place, Algonquin Provincial Park. We made it there this summer with him (picture with him on the trail is from a morning walk there), and it was amazing! He loved hiking and running the trails. The beach wasn't his favourite, but he definitely enjoyed a good campfire at night!
He continues to be a very healthy pup. Our vet is always impressed with how beautiful he is!
All the best.

Good Morning Tracey and Russ:
Hope that all is well in your world and you have enjoyed this amazing summer. As requested please find attached Valo's neuter certificate. So sorry for the delay in getting it to you.
I have attached some pictures of our little Valo Racer. He has totally adapted to living in the bush and LOVES being outside. It was very interesting to watch Valo's exploration of the lake when it turned from ice into water (like he was dipping one toe in) ......and he was not too sure about the dock when we first put it in. Watching him grow and learn has been priceless!!
We walk between 3.5 - 6 km a day and during the winter Valo loved to dive into the snow banks and make what I called "snow angel's", it was hilarious.Balls are his passion and he spends hours dropping them into all sorts of places .....of course expecting us to retrieve them.
As we knew he would, Valo has brought so much life, love and happiness into our home and we thank you for being part of his journey to us.
Please let me know if there is anything further that you require.
Thanks so much again. Have a great day,
Karen, Esa and Evan

Richard and Annette from Windsor who have a pup from Bluebell and Flynn (Feb 2013)
Hello Russ, Tracey and family,
It's hard to believe Sophie has turned 5 years old! And what a wonderful and adventure filled 5 years it has been.
We brought Sophie home in May of 2013 and she has been one busy little girl since. It wasn't long before we realized her toy of choice was a ball. As long as you had a ball Sophie gave her full on attention. We brought Sophie home after Richard's surgery for cancer and what a wonderful rehab partner she was. Her gentle, loving and attentive nature from the day one was extremely comforting. Her walks became increasingly longer and by the end of the summer we were walking several times a day. We now routinely walk 10 km daily and Sophie even knows how to hit the button with her paw to change the street lights. Her listening skills to commands are amazing.
We always begin her walks thru the University campus before heading out to the waterfront. It quickly became obvious that Sophie loves people and that people love her. We are constantly being asked if they can pet her. Many of those who stop are missing their own animals from home and she is more then happy to share some love.
In July of 2014 we brought Roxie into our life, a red and white border collie who needed to be re-homed very quickly. Sophie was very welcoming and helped Roxie learn to walk, run and play. They are now inseparable.
Sophie loves all the seasons. She loves to swim, chase leaves, play in the snow and unfortunately the mud too!
In the summer of 2015 we took the pups to the local Woof-a-Roo Festival. While at the festival Sophie was approached by a lady in a wheelchair asking if Sophie could visit her at her nursing home. We always knew Sophie had a comforting affect but after being approached by the representatives for the St John's Ambulance Therapy Dog program on site, we decided to have Sophie tested. We are very proud to say that in September 2015 Sophie was certified as a St John's Ambulance Therapy Dog. Every Sunday afternoon Richard and Sophie visit a local nursing home. And every Wednesday Sophie visits the Metropolitan Hospital Ouellette Campus to visit patients waiting for diagnostic testing and the families in the OR waiting room.
The following September 2016 Sophie was Child Certified. Sophie routinely visits high schools during exam time, she is part of the Meet and Greet program which teaches children how behave around a dog. Sophie also is part of the Visit with Santa Autism program and the New Comers program which teaches new immigrants that dogs are part of our family. We are very proud of the unconditional love she is able to give.
During the same time Sophie began agility classes with the Border City Barkers. This summer she was asked to become a full member and now does local shows, charity events and parades. She loves to be the center of attention!
When we brought Sophie home we couldn't have imagined the amount of joy and love she would bring into our family. We are extremely blessed.

Good morning Tracey,
My boyfriend and I adopted Flash on September 2nd, 2017. I wanted to email you as he has just been castrated (please see below for proof).
We renamed Flash to Beau. He has brought so much joy into our lives. He is the most amazing dog with such a character. He is calm when we are calm, loves to go for long walks and hike in the snow. I have never known a dog with a bigger heart and he loves his mama! I wanted to thank you for trusting us with him as our lives could never be the same without him.
He has passed his first obedience class with flying colours and is an amazing listener. He loves his cuddles especially in the morning. He is the best addition to our family we could have ever wished for. I have shared some pictures with you below, please feel free to include this on your testimonial page if you wish.
Thank you again,
Simone & Jordan

Greetings Salamon Family,
Re: Indy Blue from May 2016
How quickly the time has gone by - it’s been one year since we picked up Indy at 8 weeks old from you at Bur-Hill and we thought you’d be interested in how he is progressing. We kept the name you bestowed, Indy, but added Blue to celebrate his one blue eye.
Indy Blue is a true gift for us – he is love and happiness and sunshine all rolled into one pup. So many people comment on how handsome he is and his blue eye is hard to miss. There are many times when Indy will remind us of Cookie, his mom, especially when he tilts his head and smiles. He is such a character and makes us laugh all the time with his antics!
He is very smart and we are already spelling words so as not to trigger a response. Indy Blue will challenge himself when playing ball by hiding behind a chair or hide behind a tree to wait to catch the Frisbee. Or he has a game where he uses one toy, such as a rubber bone, to push or roll his favourite ball around our den. He loves to run and run by doing “burn-outs” in our large back yard or at the leash-free dog park and has made many canine friends there who he can’t wait to see on a daily basis.
Indy Blue has a favourite toy….a set of rubber rings. He loves to play tug with us for a while and then he is content to lie on his back with the rings intertwined in his front paws having a good old gnaw on them. Before bedtime, he will bring his many toys to us to be put away for the evening.
We love Indy Blue so much and are very proud of him and all the love he has brought to us. Thanks again for a truly superb dog. We’ve attached some photos of Indy Blue at 5 weeks old, training at 3 months old (at 10-weeks old he could sit and give his paw!), his first snowfall when he was 6 months old, and at 11 months old with one of his favourite toys, the “rings”!
We would be happy if you would like to use this update as a testament to your excellent dog breeding. Our very best to all of you, especially Susannah!

Hello Russ, Tracey and family,
Our family thought it time to let you know what you have done for us in entrusting us with one of your well bred pups. The first days, as with any new addition to a family, passed in a blur of activity while everyone adjusted to our fur baby and she to us. From those early days, the bonds of love grew so that now we cannot imagine our family without Zuzu.
We have delighted in her development in intelligence and personality. She is clever, picking up tricks and games quickly. She is inventive in ways that surprise us. She loves car travel and is very adaptable to wherever we take her.
It would be a fib to say there have not been challenges. She does like to crouch into the typical BC herd/chase stance when walking on the leash and a vehicle goes by. We are working on changing that, with patience and redirection.
Her joyfulness in greeting other animals and people is infectious, usually prompting playful and happy responses.
I will attach a few photos here. Please feel free to respond to and/or print this testimonial. We adore our girl. Wishing you all well. Please, give our special regards to Susannah.

Hello, Russ, Tracey and Family!
We can hardly believe that Caymus is nearly 8 months old already!! We have been having so much fun with him and he’s growing up to be a wonderful dog. Everyone who meets him adores him (and he them) and they can’t believe how calm and well behaved he is for his breed/age – definitely a testament to your program!! He’s a bright and goofy boy with lots of personality. He makes us laugh regularly, especially when he tries a new treat. He has to spend at least 5 minutes throwing it around, pouncing on it and then rolling in it before he can eat it He’s a big boy, already over 40lbs, but not chubby, we checked and quite tall compared with other collies. We could not be more happy with him, thank you again for giving us this opportunity.
We have had many adventures with Caymus over the past few months. He has completed puppy class, as well as a higher level class that covered a wide range of obedience, confidence building and working in distracted environments. All three of us enjoyed it so much that we joined their club that offers regular classes that work on different skills as well as group activities like hiking and camping. It’s been great for his socialization and he has made some puppy friends that he hangs out with regularly.
We head to the mountains as often as possible to hike or camp. Caymus loves it when we go hiking and discover that there is still snow at the top. He’s such a goofball rolling around and sliding in the snow. He has had tons of fun camping with us too. Sharing a 2-man tent with a puppy has been hilarious. He seems to like the treat of sleeping with us (read: on top of us) and the easy access to our faces to wake us up with slobbery puppy kisses
Attached is his neuter certificate as well as some pictures of his adventures in Calgary so far! We can’t wait to see what adventures become us in the next 8 months and beyond.
Cheers,
Jen, Sean, and Caymus

Hi Tracey and Russ
Re: Joey aka Kerry from Katie/Glen May 26 2011...I cannot believe my 'baby' will be 5 in a couple of days. What an absolutely amazing dog she is, I don't know how I got so lucky!
Just wanted to update you on her accomplishments. In Obedience she earned her CDX in three straight trials (with a High In Trial) and is now working on her Obedience Trial Champion title; she has her CKC Rally Advanced title as well but her favourite thing to do is agility. She is now competing in Masters level in AAC (Agility Association of Canada) and next week we are going to the Ontario Regional Championships again; last year she got on the podium with an overall sixth place over a large group of very good dogs.
So extremely proud of her. She is the sweetest, most loving and definitely smartest dog I could ever have imagined being lucky enough to have, so thank you SO much and a big thanks to Katie and Glen ;-)

Hi,
I hope all is well and all your puppies are finding great homes, they are all so adorable!
Our Toby is doing very well :) He starts obedience next Tuesday at Dealing With Dogs.
Now that he knows the word DROP IT we play tug of war together and he LOVES IT!
Crate training is progressing well. Today was the first night he slept though the night from 10:00pm to 5:00 am without needing to go outside to pee :)
During the daytime he rings a bell to tell us that he needs to go outside to the bathroom. Also, with your suggestion, he knows 2 of his toys by name :)
He has been such a great addition to our family.... next week I will be able to start walking him seeing that he's going for vaccinations tomorrow :) Our Vet wants him off the side walks and away from dogs for 1 week after his shots.
Take care!
January 16, 2015
:) Toby was at the vet yesterday for his vaccination.
While he was in his vet appointment he started barking and looking out the window.. It was Toby telling us he wanted to go outside to pee, which he happily did outside midway through his appointment :) I'm still amazed at his intelligence.
Our vet wanted to know more about you all. He was formerly a farm vet and his brother is also a farm vet .. Therefore he has been around a lot of border collies and has an interest in the breed. He even looked you up online during our appointment, he was so interested to knowing more about the great breeders that our Toby came from :)
I hear my cousin might be able to bring a Bur Hill border collie home sometime in March :) She is so excited and so am I :)
Sorry to email you so often, we are just so thankful that we found you and have our Toby.
Take care and say hi to Russ and the kids for us :)
April 16, 2015
Toby is a bit of a SOCIAL SHOW OFF :) LOL! I walk him 1 hour every morning and he meets up with his usual 4 legged friends but he also has to say hi to all the owners ,along with anyone and everyone that walks by and wants to meet him. He sits right in front of them , will look at them and wait for their attention hoping desperately that they pet him.
BTW: He always looks like he's smiling :)
Take care

I'm getting busier with my pet photography... I never thought Toby would help me with my career . Thanks to him, he helps me find new clients. Toby won't let me pass a dog without him stopping for a friendly sniff and play bow :) When I am off photographing a dog offsite I come home and he knows I've been with another dog and frantically looks to see if I brought the dog home with me. Lol!
Toby is known by the entire neighbourhood ...LOL. He gentle bows his head when a child is present as if he is showing them he is gentle . Toby is my shadow, he is always by my side. No more crate needed at night time either... Hurray :) I moved my office to my basement right beside my 20' long crawl space which is 4.5' height .... Perfect spot for Toby to play fetch. He brings me his ball in my office so I can throw it anytime he's in the mood to play fetch all while working :) This is especially nice on rainy days when outside play isn't possible.
Sorry for the long winded message. I'm just so happy to have Toby in our family and wanted to share our joy with you :). Happy Easter to you all!

Neil and Lynn from Belle River Ontario who have a pup from Janie and Flynn (June 2015)
Dear Tracey,
Thank you for sending Kasey's papers to us.
We just love her so much. She is such a "lover" and the most beautiful dog inside and out. She is friendly to everyone, loves kids and plays well with other dogs. Neil takes her for a walk in the conservation area every morning and gives her a bath when she gets muddy. She knows if she is muddy she has to have a bath and she immediately goes to the laundry tub (as you can see if you can get the pictures I tried sending) and waits for Neil to help her in.
She is aiming to be the first dog hockey goalie! She just loves getting in the net and "playing goalie'" with the grandkids. We never taught her to get into the net she has just claimed it. As soon as she gets into the garage she immediately gets into the net.
She loves our back yard and loves to play with the dogs next door. She spends a lot of time in their backyard but sneaks back through the fence to come to our yard when she has had enough play. When we call her to check on her in our backyard she comes half way in the yard and sits down as if to say I'm here can I still stay out and chase the squirrels. She watches everything in the sky - especially large birds and airplanes! She still loves to go for car rides.
She is very obedient and loves to please. She is very good when we have to leave her home alone. She lays by the front door and watches for us to come home. She stays up with me as Neil goes to bed earlier than I do. But as soon as I say let's go to bed she beats me to my side of the bed and leaves me only a little room.
She still wakes us in the morning with kisses as soon as it is light out as if to say " let's get going"!
Sorry I went on so much about Kasey but she is such a joy and brightens our day every day.
I hope you can get the pictures - I will send you a video of her playing goalie in another email if I can figure out how to do it.
Have a good summer.
Lynn

Hi Tracey,
Just dropping a note that Z-girl aka Jody is doing awesome.
She is strikingly beautiful, so smart, and so much fun.
I almost dove in for the next one with Flynn and Skye’s recent litter.
I am hoping that within a year I may get a new buddy for Zoey from Bur Hill Border Collies.
Thanks very much for bringing her into my life. She is so full of joy.

Hello Tracey and Russ and girls:
We can't believe Rory is now 16 months old. He continues to bring great joy to us.
Rory is still high-energy, but has settled down quite a bit as long as he gets plenty of play-time and a long walk each day.
He loves to run around our yard and his "job" in life is to keep the squirrels, Canadian geese and the many variety of birds away. Any flying aircraft in our air-space is greeted by a strong bark.
He is a very good watch-dog and not a sound goes by without Rory letting us know.
He loves playing fetch and jumping in the air to catch his special toys and knows them all by name. We try to put Rory in daycare at least once a month as he loves all his doggie friends and they enjoy playing with him. We will be going to the third round of agility in a few days.
After a full day of fun and games, he just settles down in our kitchen or on his bed and likes a long nap or just sharing time with us.
Here are some new photos we'd like to share with you.
This update can be used on your website if you choose to use it for your testimonials.
Thanks again,

Ryan and Kaitlyn from Mississauga have two pups: Indi from Cindy and Glen (May 2010) and Phoenix from Heidi and Andy (July 2011)
Hi Russ and Tracey,
It's been a while since we have touched base with you. In the summer of 2010, my then girlfriend Kait and I adopted Indi (formerly Tony) from you. His parents were Glen and Cindy. In the summer of 2011 we thought Indi needed a bro, so we got Phoenix (formerly Hooper) also from you. His parents were Heidi and Andy.
Indi is an awesome dog, super smart and loyal. He's mainly black and white with a slight tri-colour in the cheeks, and he has Glen's trademark on the outside of his right ear.
Phoenix is our sucky baby. The typical younger brother. He is the one that jumps into bed to sleep, while Indi sleeps on guard at the door.
Indi and Phoenix are now 4 and 5 years old. Kait and I are now married with a baby boy (Grayson) who we adopted last year. And now Kait is pregnant with our second child, who will be a girl. The dogs are great with Gray, and we can't wait to see how he grows up with them.
Here are some pics.
They were our ringer bearers at our wedding in July 2012!
Indi and Phoenix with the their Pink balloons at the gender reveal BBQ in August 2015, when we found out that we are having a girl!
Grayson and his two best friends in July 2015.
We also now have 2 cats that we adopted from the Mississauga Humane Society. So that means in December we'll have 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 kids! We're starting to refer to our house as "The Ark", all our animals are two by two.
I just wanted to send an email to thank you Russ and Tracey, for entrusting us with Indi way back in the Summer of 2010, and getting use started on this wild ride!
Feel free to use any of this content in your testimonial section of your website.
Have a great day,

Kyle and Ina from Harrow Ontario who have a pup from Skye and Robbie (Feb 2012)
Hi Russ And Tracey!
We wanted to share an update of our beautiful Shannie, formerly Leica, from Skye and Robbie, February 2012. She was born with blue eyes and a silver coat which you also call blue! As a three year old she is now still grey in colour but her eyes have darkened.
Shannie loves where she lives on our former sheep farm and is a great family dog. She is extremely intelligent and loyal to her family. She kept tabs on us all....making sure that we are close by, safe. Shannie loves to run around the farm and especially loves chasing her ball. She is agile, fast and a natural athlete.
Thanks so much for allowing her to be part of our family!
She has brought us much joy and we hope for many more years!
Warm Regards,
Ina, Kyle, Alandra and Gabriel

Jeff and Dawn from Fenwick Ontario who have a pup from Jen and Flynn (May 2014)
Tracey,
Jeff and I just returned from our first cottage trip of the summer. Fiona went with us once last year, but she was so small we were worried she might get hurt or lost (or eaten!).
This time, she was able to tear around on her own, and she loved it! She is still small - about 30 lbs and 18 or 19" at the withers - but she makes up for her size in spirit. She loves to watch the birds, and while she isn't totally sold on swimming (yet, we hope), she loves being able to wade into the water as deeply as possible while still being able to touch the bottom. She's also a little wary of the docks, as they are floating and move with the waves. As a passenger, though, she is fantastic - both in the car/truck and the boat, and even in a kayak!
Here are a few photos, taken with my cell phone, of her enjoying her freedom.
She continues to be a happy little gal, who loves everyone and everything. It's such a pleasure to have a dog with such a nice temperament! We do need to enforce naps from time to time, but she goes into her crate without a fuss, and sometimes we find her in there napping on her own.
Please do share our thanks with Russ and your girls.

Dear Russ and Tracey Salamon and family,
Gracie is now just over 7 months old and has had her spay operation on December 15 at Fall River Veterinary Clinic/Animal Hospital. I do have a certificate if you would like me to send you the actual certificate for your files. She has recovered very well and, after a 12 day break, she is back to full speed activities.
Gracie is a wonderful dog and is becoming a very attentive companion. She is happiest with two long walks/runs off leash each day in wide open spaces or dodging her way through the woods leaping over logs and weaving between trees. She is excellent with other dogs; very deferential and loving - completely non-aggressive. She prefers dogs her own age and size and prefers to run with them performing self-constructed speed tests.
We explore parks in the off season and we are lucky to live near a large off-leash trail system where she runs and plays with other dogs and stay aways from the big dogs when I tell her to. She does like to chase everything but in particular the birds flying over the neighbourhood….this needs to be controlled as it involves barking and obsessive focus, and we are working on that.
Gracie is beautiful, kind, and affectionate and is getting used the the rhythms of our household - allows us to drink our coffee and read some of the newspaper before her morning run and then lets us work through her nap time to wake up to her second outing in the afternoon. She is smart and very trainable; loves playing anything that involves a ball or a stuffed animal, and also loves to “go find” hidden objects with treats stuck on them with peanut butter. She would be happy to play games all day….but just like other young mammals she needs her naps and we encourage her to take them.
We have facilitated her dog socialization by having her go to a farm-type outdoor play area one day per week. This is a very controlled environment with dogs that are closely supervised and she has made good play friends there - I make sure she only plays with dogs that are her size and I am happy that she is also good with dogs that are smaller than she is. I expect we will try to see if she enjoys working with other dogs one day per week in the sniffer dog lab at Dalhousie University. This is an interest of mine, but I will only have Gracie involved in this work if it is an interest of hers. Many dogs do enjoy this type of mental challenge and if they do like it they can learn to work in the field. She has gone to puppy classes and I have had a trainer visit for some special refocus issues. There are many opportunities for her in future to take additional obedience or agility courses….we are not rushing into anything but will need to keep her busy with something that she likes to do, or maybe continuing with very long walks will satisfy us all. We will see.
Gracie is a wonderful dog and is family centred and loves people as much as she loves other dogs; she does have an off switch and we do use it when she becomes over stimulated and we have to place her in her crate to settle down; this process has always worked. I believe that we have the type of dog that you have intended to breed and we are very very happy with her; she certainly insures that we do not get too lazy and get a very solid start to each day!
All the very best to you; if there is further information that you would like about Gracie please contact me.

Jeff and Katey from Burlington Ontario who have a pup from Nellie and Robbie (October 2013)
Hi Tracey,
Barney is amazing! Since the first day we brought him home he has brought us such joy. He has such a sweet temperament and is always making us laugh. We crate trained him right away and he adjusted very quickly. We recently transitioned him out of the crate and he has done really well. We started him in puppy school at 8 weeks and kept him in them until about 6 months right up until he was neutered. He loved playing with the other dogs and he was a favourite amongst the trainers since he was so smart! He won "best recall" too! He is very well socialized and loves to say hi to other dogs and people when we are out on our walks and gets many compliments on how soft his coat is and how cute he is!
We also discovered this summer that he loves swimming in the lake, and even jumped right off the dock, surprising us all! He's a natural swimmer - we were amazed when he just jumped in and started swimming as if he'd done it for years.
He loves to chase his tennis balls around the house and loves running in the backyard too. We have so much fun with him and are so glad that we made the decision to bring him home.
I'm not sure if you keep them, but do you happen to still have the two 'baby pictures' of Barney that you posted on the website? If so we would love a copy of them. I've attached a few pictures for you as well, one from when he was smaller, and a few more recent ones.
We hope that you, Russ, and the girls are all well and are enjoying the fall weather. We look at the website often and enjoy all the pictures of the new pups. We're sure that we'll be back one day soon to bring him home a little pup to play with.
Warm regards,
Katey and Jeff (and Barney!)

Hi Tracey and Family,
Just wanted to give you an update on Jagger's progression and send you this beautiful photo of him taken last weekend (July 18, 2014).
Jagger has continued to 'wow' us with his brilliance in how quickly he picks up new things, his observations of everything around him, right down to the smallest of the insect species, his truly wonderful disposition with adults and children alike and, of course, his handsomeness.
He optimizes in every way what an amazing dog a border collie is and we are delighted that he is our dog to love.
Thank you,
Karen and Don
P.S. - Please feel free to use this email communication and the attached photo of Jagger in any way that promotes the exceptional dogs that are produced as a result of your breeding program.

Good morning all!!!
I wanted to send you pictures of Sadie (Dottie - born September 11, 2013 to Skye and Flynn). She is 8 months old now and happy, healthy and full of energy.
These pictures were taken just after we gave her a bath yesterday. Her fur is so soft and wavy like her dad, Flynn. She has her mom Skye's lighter brown eyes. She gets compliments wherever we go and she is more than happy to meet everyone.
We will be completing obedience training in a couple of weeks and will probably look into puppy agility with her. She has lots of energy and is a smart as a whip.
Hope you enjoy the pictures of our beautiful girl. Enjoy your day....Lisa.

Hi Russ, Tracey and Family,
Here is an update on Tucker (“Jiggs” from Nellie and Robbie, Feb 22, 2013 litter) that we would be happy if you would like to include on your testimonials.
What kept drawing us to your dogs, were your descriptions of how much of family dogs they were, how they loved people and were easy-going. Your descriptions are so true of Tucker. He is full of character, making us laugh all the time. He has all the spunk we were looking for and is always up for play. He comes to our sports store with us every day where he will relax or greet and play with the customers. He loves children and he loves meeting other dogs. He has all the spunk we were looking for.
I have included a photo of him while he was teething because he was so funny looking. During this time, his ears stood up and crossed each other, making him look like he had a cone-head. You can see by his grown-up photo that he has turned into a very handsome guy and he gets lots of compliments. He has beautiful hair that is curly on his back and he weighs just over 40 lbs.
He did great in his puppy school and we are continuing as he is so smart and I want to teach him lots of tricks. He’s going to try some agility later as I know he will have so much fun. One of his favourite toys is a soccer ball. He loves to hit the ball with his feet and nose and chase it all over the backyard.
We love him so much and couldn’t be happier that he is a part of our family! Thank you so much.
Peggy, Randy & Jeff

Hi Russ and Tracey!
I wanted to send you an update on Penny (nee Mandy from Katie's April 23rd litter). She was successfully spayed on Oct 21st and has recovered very well. I've attached a copy of the invoice from the vet for you as confirmation.
Penny is such a wonderful pup and we love her so much! She is 29 pounds now, so still on the smaller side, and has a gorgeous thick curly coat a lot like her daddy's.
She is very smart and has a lot of energy. Her favorite games are playing ball or fetch with her squeaky hippo. We've just started Intermediate Obedience classes with Penny, she has already finished Puppy Kindergarten and Puppy Grad classes at our local obedience school and did very well. She loves going to class and greeting everyone!
We are complimented all the time on her sweet and friendly personality. She thinks everyone is her new best friend and she just loves saying hello to the people in our neighbourhood on our daily walks. Penny is a wonderful example of the great job your family does socializing your pups! She is very affectionate, especially with our son, loves to play, and get hugs and kisses.
I've attached a few recent pictures for you.
Thank you!
I wanted to send you an update on Penny (nee Mandy from Katie's April 23rd litter). She was successfully spayed on Oct 21st and has recovered very well. I've attached a copy of the invoice from the vet for you as confirmation.

Good Morning.
We have just celebrated Cooper's 2nd birthday (July 21st). What a WONDERFUL GIFT to us! Cooper is my snuggy buddy and by far the smartest dog we have ever had or known.
He loves to run to the door/window when he hears a plane and watch it fly overhead or watch the garbage trucks on a Friday. Whenever he hears PIANO music on the TV he stops immediately and looks at the TV. He loves to play ball/wubba and go on his walks. He 'speaks' to us now when he wants something. He plays well with other dogs but prefers smaller dogs to bigger ones. He goes to Petsmart to be groomed and gets excellent report cards - they just love him there. He also goes to 'Daycamp' and comes home very tired.
We were heartbroken to lose our 'Baxter' two years ago but Cooper has certainly helped us thru the pain. He is just so loving and kind, our daughter cannot believe how gently he takes things from our hand. What a TRUE BLESSING Cooper is to us, thank you again for allowing us the privilege of raising him as part of our family.
Very Sincerely,
Sam & Linda

Just an update on Vette (Marcus from Bluebell/Flynn). He is doing amazingly well and we love him to pieces! He’s a very smart boy and sometimes can be a little scamp! But OH BOY what a personality! We are stopped all the time on the street with people commenting on his good looks and beautiful coat. He has kept some of his curls from his Daddy. His eyes are so dark they are almost black. We couldn’t be happier with him! I speak Bur Hill’s praises to anyone who asks!

Hi Russ, Tracey and girls.
Just thought I'd update you on Paige and let you know how well she is doing.
Tomorrow she's 6 months old! She is now 40 lbs. and has been very healthy - no issues what-so-ever with her development and growth and her vet is very pleased with her progress.
She sure has her daddy's good looks, and interestingly her eyes are black. Very beautiful to look at. As for her character, so far she has been a fabulous little dog. She's got an amazing vocabulary, is SO quick and agile and her patience when "stalking" squirrels leaves me speechless. She can strike a "border collie pose" and hold it forever. Her popularity with the neighbours is so enjoyable and she has brought a lot of happiness to my neighbours, friends and family. As an example, my dad is an 86 year old WWII vet. Landed on Juno Beach in 1944 at the age of 18 and was badly wounded in Holland. He managed to survive it all and always looked forward to the Remembrance Day ceremonies in our community. Unfortunately, this year for the very first time he was not able to attend the ceremonies because of health issues. So, I had Paige stand in for him. She was a BIG hit with the crowd and was really enjoyable to watch when the pipe band and bugle played and all the orders for the military personnel were shouted. Cocking her head at every turn with the new sounds. She was so well behaved! She greeted all newcomers, young and old, cheerfully and with enthusiasm. It was amazing how willing she was to engage anyone who came near. When I reported in to him afterwards he was so pleased to hear of the happiness she spread through the event.
And that's what she does best.
I have forwarded a couple of photos for you. I swear as soon as she sees a camera she thinks she's on the runway, as you can tell by these few shots!
I hope this finds you all yours well, and hope you enjoy this little update.

Hello there,
We wanted to say a quick hello and let you know how much we are enjoying Blaze. Although we didn't intend on keeping "Blaze" as his name, we couldn't agree as a family on a name and so we'd call him one name for a few hours then switch again, but we'd default to Blaze by accident. Well - after only two days of indecision, he began to answer to Blaze, (much to our surprise) so Blaze it is. He is soooo smart and he has learned a few commands already. He slept through the night right from the first night with us - another surprise, not a whimper, - and within days he learned to go to the door when he needs out.
We've spent the entire summer up on Georgian Bay and Blaze has just loved it. He does great in the boat and he's even been swimming a few times and did very well. He loves to wade in and stare down the kids when they are in the lake, ever vigilant. His agility at such a young age has also blown us away, - he literally leaps from rock to rock as he runs along the Georgian Bay shore, chasing after the kids. Wait until he discovers that his 'real home' is in the flatlands of Essex County!
He's socialized very well with various dogs and people. I attached a photo from an event we attended where at least 30 people approached us and gave him a scratch. We joked that we should lend him to our bachelor friend, - Blaze is quite a hit with the ladies!
Thank you for doing such a great job with Blaze! We just love him.

Hello,
We were fortunate enough to get Lucas from Shannon and Glen's April 7th litter and could not be any happier.
In just the few months we have had him we are amazed at his intelligence and the speed of his learning. He literally stares right at you when you talk to him, you almost expect him to say something back. We knew border collies were extremely smart dogs but WOW!
He is gorgeous and we love his markings....hoping he keeps part of his pink little nose. He has a terrific personality and demeanour.
We have had numerous comments on how gorgeous, smart and friendly he is. Several people have asked us where we got him from so we have provided the website.
Our vet has had 2 border collies before and she has checked out your website (possibly looking for one in the next year), she absolutely adores Lucas. He has a great bill of health, very strong and healthy.
I have enclosed a few pictures of Lucas (nee Paddy). He is between 3 and 4 months in them.
Thank you again and we will continue to recommend Bur Hill Border Collies.

Hi Russ & Tracey...
Since we are celebrating Skye's first birthday today I thought it was a good day to send you a few pictures and let you know how wonderful she is doing!
She is not only a beautiful dog on the outside but brings such joy and fun to our house. She is SO smart and we love showing off all the neat tricks and commands she is learning. Almost everyone in town knows her - I have even had people call out to her as they drive by in their cars!
She loves to go for nice long walks in the Conservation Area (and chase the squirrels!) and as long as she has a tennis ball nearby she is a happy girl!
Thank you for taking the care and attention to breeding the puppies you do - you can certainly see your devotion and love in the dogs that you produce and it shows in how wonderful the puppies are.
Our family is so much better with Skye here and we look forward to a long and fun-filled life with her!
All the best to you and the girls!!
Joanne

Hi Tracey, Russ and girls,
Just wanted to let you know that we are very happy with Guinness. He and our 2-year old golden retriever Hartley get along very well as you will see from the attached pictures. Guinness has settled into his new home very easily and has learned to do many things; sit, down, come, paw. We love the border collie moves that are beginning to show up in his behavior. All our friends and neighbours continually comment on how calm he is. Housebreaking has gone well. You have all done an amazing job of breeding and socializing your pups and it is very evident in Guinness. We'll keep you posted from time to time about his progress.
Thanks,
Jane and Gord

Dear Tracey and Russ,
Mattie (now Wicca!) is doing great – we had a fun weekend with her in London and she met all her new in-laws. Wicca was a real hit.
She is great with Carolyn, a credit to your daughters of course. Please thank them for being so playful with your puppies. Wicca is getting along wonderfully with Diesel, our 3 year old BC. The two have become almost inseparable. Her crate training is also going well, as you can see in the photo of Carolyn in the crate with Wicca standing guard...hmm
All our best,

August 2010 Update
Dear Tracey and Russ (and your girls), Just a quick update on one of your former pups. Wicca (nee Mattie) turned three today, 35 pounds, and just an absolutely delightful, affectionate companion. She is friendly with everyone 2 and 4 legged, and is healthy and happy (well, her tail seems to always be wagging and she rolls on her back for kids at the park). She and Diesel get along famously. We have a great neighbourhood canine community with lots of off leash socializing and play on a large field by the river, summer and winter (well lit from an ice rink that gets built on part of the field). The park includes a children's play area and wading pool (out of bounds for dogs but they can stay close by), which means there is always lots of activity around them.
You certainly have placed many dogs over the years. One has definitely made us happy and proud to have her part of our family.
Hope this finds you all well,
All our best,
Rob, Louise, Carolyn, ...Diesel, and of course Wicca.

Hello Tracey, Russ, and Girls,
Thank you for your note. Kuinn is doing wonderfully. She has been spayed. She had no problems with the spaying and recovered quickly.
Kuinn has become a wonderful addition to our family. She is energetic, happy, and VERY intelligent -- perhaps a little too
smart for her own good! We have also found a wonderful Vet that we feel very comfortable with. After she settled into her new environment, we enrolled her in Puppy School for her basic training. The entire family attended the workshops to ensure we were all using the same commands. Of course, Kuinn did great.
As requested, here is a recent photo of her. I actually just took it this morning. She was having a hard time deciding between a stick and her ball, so, she chose both!
Thank you for writing to us. I had planned on sending you photos of Kuinn around her first birthday, so your email was very timely! We hope to keep you up-to-date on her progress from time to time.
Hope everyone is well. Enjoy the photos!

Hi Tracey,
Bree is doing wonderful. She's been enjoying the summer playing Frisbee with her friends then going for long walks. The weather has been somewhat cool so it's perfect for long walks. Bree still greets people by rolling over for a tummy rub.
What has really surprised me was Bree's instant love of the water at the lake. There was no hesitation what's so ever about going into the water. She loves to go swimming after her Frisbee. I purchased a small pool for her to play in when we're in the city.
When Bree isn't playing, walking and/or swimming, she loves to watch the bunnies, squirrels and the neighbor's cats from her spot on the couch. Another activity Bree loves is to dig holes in the lawn and garden. If only she could help dig up the weeds.
There's always a smile on Bree's face and cuddles for everyone. She's certainly one happy little girl.
I noticed the Orijen dog food on your website. Bree is now eating this kind. She's filling out nicely and has really curly hair on her little caboose.
Take care.
Pat
August 2010 Update
Hi Tracey,
Bree and I are both very well and I hope you and your family are likewise. Bree has been everything your web site stated she would be and more. She’s a wonderful family member who loves everyone yet maintains the border collie instinct with a reasonable amount of drive. The on/off switch works very well. It’s truly amazing how Bree can ‘settle down’ within seconds of being asked. My vet says Bree is the most calm and relaxed border collie he’s met.
I’m enclosing some recent pictures and an update for Summer 2010. Bree is now one of the best Frisbee players in the park. She graciously shares her Frisbee (and her water) with all the other dogs. Bree is a favorite with the neighborhood children and manages to get by on as many tummy rubs as she can. Strangers are friends in short order if they past the sniff and tummy rub test.
Bree likes to eat her Orijen dog food, plain yoghurt, veggies and fish treats. This little one has no fear of fireworks, hail, thunder and/or lightning. She’s sensitive and cares for the needs of those around her. Kisses and cuddles are readily shared. She’s very alert and there’s always a twinkle in her eyes as she discovers new things. You can just see her mind at work.
The weather has been hot and very humid with lots of rain and mosquitoes. We’ve been playing Frisbee and going for walks later in the evening when the wind picks up. The rain hasn’t stopped us from our long walks. We’re looking forward to spending more time at the lake in August where Bree enjoys swimming. Our hiking trips for fall/winter/spring will start in September. Bree enjoyed our hiking trips at various provincial parks last year.
Bree is truly a wonderful companion who makes everyday fun! Bree receives many compliments which makes me so very happy to own such a lovely dog.
Take care,
Pat

Hello Bur Hill!
Since it is Lexi’s first birthday today I thought I would drop you a note to let you know how things are going. She has added so much to our family and has become very important to us. We have all learned a lot from her and she certainly has learned so much as well. She is beautiful, energetic and picks up new tricks so very quickly that it is a challenge to keep her challenged but she seems to be happy and has settled very nicely. We are certainly very fortunate to have her as part of our family.
We have kept in touch with her brother Kasey and have made plans to get the dogs together again this summer. They really do enjoy that! I’m sending a picture we took of her recently on a walk on the trails here in town.
Have an awesome day!

Hi Russ and Tracey,
Just a quick note to let you know how "Nick" Danny Boy is doing. From the first night he went into his crate at bedtime. No whining or whimpering at all! I take him out at 2 or 3 and he pees immediately and goes right back into his crate and to sleep. In the morning he waits quietly until I get him up between 7 and 8. He loves my mother's lab. The lab is patient with him and growls when she has had enough of him, and he backs right off. He is really enjoying her large backyard.
I'll send pictures, soon. I'm sure you have your hands full with your new puppies.
Please tell the children we appreciate the good care they took of “Nick”. He’s a fine boy!

Hi Russ and Tracey,
We are thrilled with McGee! He's a wonderful dog and learns very quickly from Danny. Danny plays a game where he stands at the top of the stairs and throws the ball down the stairs to me. McGee stands in between now, catches the ball, and throws it the rest of the way. It's amazing how quickly he catches on when he sees Danny do something. Housetraining was a breeze.
I've attached a couple of pictures ...
Thank you for two exceptional dogs!

Hello Russ and Tracey,
I just wanted to send you a quick email and tell you how Maggie May (nee Emma) is doing down here.
In a word, WONDERFUL!!! She is without-a-doubt incredibly smart and was easily house-trained. Our family loves her like crazy and we have to take turns playing with her. She has a unique personality and every day is a new experience. She had her second set of shots 2 – 3 weeks ago and, except for having some worms, which were taken care of with a little bit of medicine, she checked out in excellent health. Our vet explained that in some cases, panacur does not kill off all worms and gave her another type of medicine which does. It definitely did not affect her weight or appetite as she has more than doubled in size.
Maggie has already learned quite a few tricks, including shake a paw, high five, sit up and beg, roll over and play dead. I even taught her to wipe her feet when she comes in from the rear yard, which our visitors find quite amusing. She is a huge part of our family and we love her like crazy!!! We’re still trying to get that nipping thing under control, which I understand is inherent in BCs.
I hope all is well with your family.
Kindest regards,
Bob and Trish and family
Hello Tracey and Russ,
I hope all is well with you and your family. You may recall that my wife Trish and I purchased a black and white female Border Collie - Maggie May (nee Emma), born September 9, 2009 to Cindy and Roy. Maggie May was successfully spayed on April 14, 2010. She is our absolute pride and joy and I cannot tell you just how much she is loved by our family. She is incredibly smart and already is trusted enough to have the run of the house. Although high energy and always wanting to play, she does indeed settle down when told to. I have trained her to “heel” and she never leaves my side until I release her.
Thank you very much and kindest regards,
Bob and Trish
I just wanted to send you a quick email and tell you how Maggie May (nee Emma) is doing down here.
In a word, WONDERFUL!!! She is without-a-doubt incredibly smart and was easily house-trained. Our family loves her like crazy and we have to take turns playing with her. She has a unique personality and every day is a new experience. Hello Russ and Tracey.
Molly has turned out to be a wonderful pet and companion for me. She has been to two different sessions of puppy obedience classes and is now halfway finished her puppy agility classes. She is wonderful with kids and all the neighbourhood children love to play with her and baby sit her when I go out and leave her behind. She is also a big hit at the seniors' home where my mother lives. We visit her a few times throughout the week and all the residents come and want to pet and cuddle her. She has a wonderful gentle personality that people seem to recognize instantly.
Thank you so much for allowing me to take her home with me.

Hi Tracey and Russ,
We're writing to give you an update on Petey (formerly Luke, of the Sept. 9 litter). He's doing very, very well. He's currently in puppy kindergarten and (at least on some nights) he's the star of the class. He's getting about 4 or 5 walks/ plays a day, spends lots of time in the dog park, lots of time learning, and is growing like a weed. He's huge in fact: big paws, broad at the shoulder, and our vet predicts he's going to be a big boy. He's also become a neighborhood character. As I think I told you before, we live just around the corner from the school that our sons attend and where my wife Denise also works. The boys have a recess/ lunch break from 1:45-2:15 and they are coming home to walk him during that time. When we first got Petey, the principal and the school's secretary (who are dog crazy) convinced us to allow the boys to bring him back to the school at 2:15 when they returned. And since then he has spent almost every afternoon from 2:15 to 3:30 in the school's office, being taken care of by the principal and secretary, hanging out with the kids, going for walks from class to class, and becoming something of a school mascot.
Thanks so much,
Geoff, Denise, Isaac and Gabriel
